What inspired this piece

We wanted to create a design that felt free-flowing, relaxed and incredibly easy to style. Something that would work with the clothes you already own and bring a little more personality to your everyday wardrobe.

The Leela was made to be worn with your favourite jeans, cut-off denim shorts, leggings or even layered over a dress. She’s all about creating that effortless bohemian style without having to think too hard about what you’re wearing.

We also wanted a top that wouldn’t make you feel uncomfortable. Nothing tight, restrictive or figure-hugging. Just a relaxed, boxy shape that gives you room to move and lets you feel like yourself.

And that's how the Leela was born.

The Leela is the kind of boho clothing you can wear all year round.

In the summer, throw her over your favourite cut-off denim shorts or wear her with flared jeans for an easy, festival-inspired look. When the weather cools, she works just as beautifully layered over a long-sleeved top with leggings and boots.

We intentionally kept the shape simple.

The Leela is designed to be easy to wear, non-restrictive, lightweight and flowing. She moves with you rather than holding you back, making her perfect for everything from slow summer days to evenings spent dancing under the stars.

Wear her with jeans and she’ll instantly lift a basic outfit. Layer her over a dress and she adds another dimension to your look, whilst giving you even more ways to wear the pieces already hanging in your wardrobe.

For us, that’s what slow fashion is all about. Creating versatile clothing that you’ll want to wear again and again, rather than pieces that only work for one occasion.

Every piece we design at The Global Bohemian is created to feel easy, free-flowing and effortless. Because sometimes, the simplest pieces are the ones we end up loving the most.

Made with purpose

When we created the Leela Top, we also cut our Saras Cami from the same saree fabric wherever possible. We believe in making the most of beautiful fabrics and avoiding unnecessary waste, so using the same material across multiple designs allows us to utilise as much of each piece as we can.

You’ll find matching and complementary designs across some of our new summer collections, giving you even more ways to build a wardrobe that feels completely your own.

We’ve also taken some of our designs a little further by adding our signature tie dye to selected pieces, giving them a more colourful and slightly edgier feel.

Our new rayon fabric offers a simpler, more understated take on the Leela, while our luxurious crepe saree styles feature beautiful, embroidered motifs and unique patterns. Each fabric brings something different to the design, meaning you can choose your Leela depending on your mood.

From an easy daytime look to something a little more special for the evening, she’s proof that one style can take you everywhere.

And that’s exactly what we love about bohemian clothing. It doesn’t have to follow the rules.
