Where is it made

Kantha is a reclaimed fabric.

Our Karma Kantha collection is made up of bohemian, seventies-inspired clothing styles using vintage, upcycled sari fabrics with traditional kantha hand-stitching. Every piece is handcrafted by women’s cooperatives in West Bengal, India, supporting ethical fashion, sustainable clothing, and heritage textile techniques.

Each piece can take up to a month to complete. You’ll find styles that reflect the iconic designs of the 1970s, such as prairie day dresses, wide leg palazzo pants, floaty tunics, cropped jackets, and boho kaftans. Many of the styles are reversible, meaning you get two looks in one, and they work perfectly for boho daywear and effortless evening wear.

Yes! Each design is as unique as you.

Due to the use of reclaimed sari fabric, every item is one-of-a-kind. Each design features its own combination of colour and pattern — no two pieces are ever the same. Some designs will favour bold single tones, two-tone colour blocking, or multi-panel patchwork. Traditional Kantha textiles are often dominated by earthy tones like red, orange, and yellow, rooted in Bengal’s rich textile heritage and cultural symbolism.

We celebrate clothing that flows with you, not against you.

The Global Bohemian celebrates relaxed fits and free-size fashion — we’re not fans of tight or restrictive cuts. Most pieces are loose-fitting or flowy, designed to suit a range of body types. Typically, sizing fits UK 8–16, depending on the garment.

Every product listing includes flat-lay measurements and helpful notes like whether a garment includes an elasticated waist or adjustable fit. For more details, check the product descriptions or message us directly.

Yes. Several pieces in our collection are oversized.

Such as our oversized kaftans, long kimono jackets, and boho tunics — are perfect for plus-size and curvier figures. We’re actively working to expand our inclusive sizing options. Sign up for our emails to be the first to know when new sizing drops.

Absolutely. Karma Kantha is made for layered boho styling.

The lightweight cotton is breathable and ideal for summer, but also works beautifully layered with boots, tights, and chunky knitwear in cooler months. Our Nomad Tunic, for example, works well over a long-sleeve top in winter or worn solo in summer. The Global Bohemian range is designed to mix, match, and layer with ease.

Look after your kantha with love and care and it will love you back!

To preserve the delicate nature of the handstitched fabric, we recommend cold hand washing or using a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Avoid tumble drying and iron on a low setting. Due to the intricate stitching, occasionally you may notice loose threads — simply trim them carefully if needed.

Our kantha fabric is handmade by artisan communities in rural West Bengal, India.

Each purchase supports fair-trade practices and contributes to sustainable production. The fabric is created using techniques passed down through generations. From there, our female-led design team in Jaipur turns these materials into consciously made bohemian fashion pieces ready to wear with love.
